Impronta Verde is the holding company of a unique, ambitious project that began in 2009 through the collaboration of ASSAM (Agenzia Servizi Settore Agroalimentare) and the universities of Ancona and Camerino: giving the Marche region a native pig, a new breed capable of growing and living immersed in the foothills and pre-Apennine landscapes of the region and expressing unique flavours through its meat.
The medical-veterinary team coordinated by Prof. Carlo Renieri guides the intersection of three prized breeds of pigs selected with the goal of defining the resulting characteristics.
Years of work with breeding techniques that respect the environment and traditional values have yielded a highly rustic, very prolific pig with a marked aptitude for grazing and perfect meat for creating typical products from the Marche region.
What makes SUINO DELLA MARCA definitively recognizable is its coat: red with a white band that completely surrounds the trunk at shoulder height.
